MD United is known for it's competitive teams, successful college players and, committed coaching staff.
Players are expected to attend practices and tournaments during the Fall, Spring & Summer. (High School teams do not practice during the spring). In the fall, we will hold practices for all teams on Sunday afternoons at The Moose Athletic Club in Glen Burnie from September to late October.
In January and February, elementary and middle school players have indoor practice sessions on a Saturday or Sunday (5 sessions) indoors at The Moose Athletic Club. Our elementary and middle school players can participate in a winter indoor league during January or February which is held on Saturdays and Sundays.
We also participate in the NGLL Spring League (March - May). We begin outside practices (Tuesday & Thursday evenings) for all elementary and middle school teams in March at MACC. Those teams continue that schedule until the end of June. High school players return to practices in May (Tuesday & Thursday evenings) after their high school season.

Upon roster spot acceptance, a deposit is due. Fees cover, field rentals, field maintenance, admin, coach's compensations, Winter Indoor practices, NGLL League, ALL tournaments, and recruiting. Uniforms will be an additional cost. We also offer sibling discounts (applied to the youngest player in the family).
Yes, US Lacrosse provides additional insurance coverage for all of our players and coaches as well as US Lacrosse Magazine for one year. The tournaments we attend now require all players become members of US Lacrosse. To join, visit USA Lacrosse and click on 'Membership Info.' You will receive a confirmation e-mail with your membership number.
Elementary and middle school players participate in the NGLL League. MDU players can play NGLL and Rec. League, but we ask that MDU be a priority. Players are also offered Winter League play.
Most tournaments are designed to provide opportunities for our high school players to be seen by and, to gain exposure to, college coaches. Our high school players going through the recruiting process receive equal time for the most part at showcase tournaments in order to receive that important look from college coaches. All other MD United athletes will receive an equal opportunity to compete but, we cannot guarantee equal playing time for any grad year. Typically, MD United has not had an issue with playing time due to the commitment and talent level of our players.
We will carry approximately 22 (19-20 field players) girls per team, depending on the grad year. Because our services are extensive, this is the maximum number of girls we can handle and ensure the highest quality and best experience for all! **MD United will have two teams in a grad year if there is enough talent present at tryouts to support two teams and, we have a committed coach.
Any player who makes the team must make the Maryland United Lacrosse Club her number one lacrosse commitment. You CANNOT play for any other team unless it is your High School or Rec. League team during their season. A member of the Maryland United Lacrosse Club may not be a member of another lacrosse club.
Teams are based on the player's high school graduation year. Our evaluations will determine your team placement. Prospective players should make it a priority to attend as many evaluations (tryouts) as possible.
Players will be evaluated during tryouts based on:
- Attitude
- Athleticism & Potential
- Lacrosse Field Sense
- Work Ethic & Persistence
- Coach-ability & Ability to Execute Direction Skill - ball handling

Yes, each player must try out each year for the purpose of determining team placement. If there were no tryouts, the competitive spirit and desire necessary to achieve a roster position would be compromised. Our tryouts are always open tryouts! WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW TALENT!
There are NO refunds after registration begins.
It is not our policy to change coaches every year, however, we cannot guarantee that you will have the same coach from year to year.
Maryland United Lacrosse Club will choose tournaments for our High School players that provide the best opportunities for competition and exposure to college coaches. Tournament schedules for our Middle School players are based on location and opportunities for competition. BOTH teams in a grad year attend the same tournament.
Our coaches have experience coaching youth, high school, college and club level lacrosse for more than a decade. Many of the coaches have played lacrosse in college, and/or have daughters that have played in college and beyond. All of our high school grad year coaches have experience and knowledge of the recruiting process.
